Welcome to our grade 7 class website.
In terms of learning, this week,we:
- DELVED MORE INTO HISTORY Our unit focuses on the years 1713-1850, but more importantly focuses on the negative impacts of colonization. We are looking at themes of power, inequality, culture and lifestyle. Our two big ideas are: History is linear; it has a cause and effect relationship The choices made in the past have an impact who we are today. This week, we studied art and primary source letters that show the view of colonists towards Indigenous Peoples. On Friday, we are going to have a War of 1812 workshop. This day was designed by Bill Farnell with my support with the intention of Bill being paid by the Foundation for Education to deliver the workshop. Because of covid and time going by, Bill gifted the materials to me. It is going to be fun. - WRAPPED UP CODING Students shared the games and google doodles. Most are pretty impressive. Some students did not follow the outlined expectations which did impact the mark they will receive and the intended learning. IT might be worth asking your young adult to show you their creation. - STARTED PROBABILITY This week and next, we are going to work on probability. It is a great connection to fractions and usually strengthens that understanding. We might also work more with algebra and equations. - OUTLINED OUR FITNESS UNIT In gym, we are going to start a fitness circuit unit. The goal is individual improvement. - CONTINUED SPELLING We are working on parts of speech and how larger words are made of root words, prefixes and suffixes. I am doing some of this through the game of Kahoot because, really, who loves grammar and spelling??? - WENT TO DA SPORTS DA was almost more of an electrifying experience that we planned. We tried to go on time, but the lighting stopped us. We were able to delay an hour or so and go then. It was a fun day and experience. |
